I started my musical life as a brass musician, playing the Tenor Horn in a variety of bands around the country. At university, initially lacking an instrument other than my voice, I became involved in stage musicals. I took lead roles in amateur student productions of Jesus Christ: Superstar and Guys and Dolls.

After a brief stop in the Real World of Work, I returned to university, during which time I was collared by the then-president of The University of Bristol Barbershop Singers after we met playing chorus roles in a Bristol Operatic Society production. This was my first exposure to the world of barbershop music, and it was love at first chord. Since then I have joined The Great Western Chorus of Bristol and been the deputy Tenor section leader, and was the TUBBS Gents' Tenor section leader and Performance Director of the mixed ensemble for 2010-2011.

Most of my singing is now focused on my Barbershop quartet, QuarteTones. We competed in the British Association of Barbershop Singers 2011 National Quartet Contest and finished 13th, the highest position achieved by a novice quartet, an achievement that earned us The Sheng Pitchpipe novice quartet award.
